As a church we are very involved in a ministry in KwaNyuswa called Light Providers.
Light Providers (LP) is a non-profit organisation that has been serving the community of KwaNyuswa since 2002. KwaNyuswa is a community in the Valley of a 1000 Hills. It has historically been plagued with a depressing belief that ‘Nothing good comes out of KwaNyuswa’. People who have grown up there have very little belief in their own skills and abilities. In each recreational area that we work in, the skill of the activity is important, but more important is the character development of the individual. It takes time to develop life skills in individuals and these changes in character are what allow a person to pick themselves up out of their own struggles and create a better future. These are the areas in which LP works.
In this segment we address issues such as; Vision and Goal setting, Healing past hurts, Communication, Volunteerism, Leadership, Relationships, Finance, Job Preparation, Personal Growth, Self-Esteem, Personal Health, Conflict Management, Team Work, Time Management.
We offer basic computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook so that the learners are more employable in our world of technology.
We provide the only library in our community. Children of school going age are welcomed and assisted with their homework, reading lessons and projects.
We have an African gospel choir of on average 10 people who travel to and perform at various churches and functions.
We have many youth who are passionate about dance, drama and poetry. This passion is kept alive by meeting together regularly and they gain confidence to perform.
